Claiming the OZEV Grant - Our Complete Guide
Our smart chargers have been accredited by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) meaning they qualify for the Home Charge Grant or the Workplace Charging Grant. If eligible, you can reduce the cost of your Home charger by £350 and Workplace chargers by up to £14,000.
Here’s a complete guide (for domestic and workplace grants) about what the grant is, how you can benefit from it and how to claim it.
Homecharge Scheme or ‘EVHS’
01. What is the OZEV Homecharge scheme?
The OZEV grant (also known as the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme or 'EVHS') offers EV drivers 75% off the total cost of their new smart home charger, up to a maximum £350 (including VAT).
02. Am I eligible for the grant?
To qualify, you must have the following:
Off-street parking (e.g. a driveway or a garage)
Your charger must use smart technology (e.g. EO Mini Pro 2)
Your charger must be installed by an OZEV approved installer
03. Does my vehicle qualify for the grant?
The majority of plug-in vehicles qualify for the OZEV EVHS grant but CO2 emissions for plug-in hybrid vehicles must be calculated below 75g/km. Use this list (maintained by OZEV) to verify if your vehicle is eligible for the grant.
Note: You can only claim one charger per eligible vehicle and up to two per household.
04. What is a smart charge point?
It's simple - if a charger is able to be remotely accessed, and capable of receiving, interpreting and reacting to a signal, then it’s a smart charge point. Smart charging can reduce high peaks of electricity demands and minimise the cost of electric vehicles to the electricity system. For example, when using the EO Mini Pro 2, EV drivers can benefit from off-peak charging and reduced energy costs.
05. How do I claim the grant?
Don't worry - one of our partner installers will take care of this for you! During the installation process, they will ask you some basic questions and will submit the application on your behalf. If you qualify, the full grant amount will be deducted from the total cost of your home charger installation.
06. Which grants are available for electric car drivers in Scotland?
On top of the OZEV EVHS grant, the Scottish Government offers EV drivers an additional grant of up to £300 through the Energy Saving Trust Scotland.
Just as with the EVHS grant, one of our installation partners will assist you in applying for the grant through our standard booking process.
Workplace Scheme or ‘WCS’
07. What is the OZEV Workplace Charging Scheme?
The Workplace Charging Scheme or 'WCS' is specifically designed to help fleets and businesses start their electrification journey.
The WCS reduces the purchase and installation cost of a new workplace charging station by £350 per charger.
The grant can be claimed for a maximum of 40 chargepoints across all the sites of your business but be warned - you can't claim for old charging stations.
08. Do I qualify for the grant?
The WCS is available to any business, charity or public authority - but to qualify, you must have the following:
Dedicated off-street parking for staff and/or fleets
Your charger must be installed by an OZEV approved workplace installer
No proof of EV is required but you will need to declare the business need or intent to encourage EV uptake amongst your staff and/or your fleet
You must own the property or have consent from the landlord for chargepoints to be installed at all the sites listed in the application
09. How do I claim the grant?
It all begins by filling this online form. If your application is confirmed, you’ll receive a unique voucher code within 5 working days that you can present to an OZEV approved installer. The installation must be completed and the grant claimed within 120 days so don’t hang around, otherwise you’ll need to re-apply.
